ITINERARY
During the navigation, the islands of Caprera and Santo Stefano are skirted to arrive at the island of La Maddalena, where a stop will be made with the possibility of shopping in typical local craft stores.
In the historic center of the island, you can visit the Town Hall (where there is an unexploded bomb that was fired by Napoleon’s troops against the town during the French expedition), the Naval Museum and the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art (there are exhibited the ‘Treasure of St. Mary Magdalene’ – the collection of jewels offered to the Patroness as votive offerings – and the altar set (two candelabra and the silver crucifix in neoclassical style) gift of Admiral Horatio Nelson, who also had an autographed letter from him delivered, which is kept here. Also preserved are ancient statues and prints, sacred furnishings, and records of offerings.
Having resumed navigation, we will continue to the most beautiful islands of the Maddalena Archipelago where, in the islands of Spargi and S.ta Maria, stops of about an hour will be made for swimming in the beautiful crystal-clear waters. A scenic tour will be made to the Manto della Madonna, a stretch of sea with shallow waters that take on colorations unique in the world. You will then skirt the Island of Budelli, famous for its pink beach where landing is forbidden as it became a protected area a few years ago.
During the stop in Spargi Island, at Cala Corsara, the most enchanting inlet of the island, you will admire rocks that are real natural sculptures: in fact, due to wind erosion and other atmospheric phenomena, they have taken on particular shapes: the witch’s head, the dog, the boot, etc.
On the way back, you will skirt Punta Sardegna, Porto Raphael, Palau and Capo d’Orso where you can admire the famous rock of the same name.
