ITINERARIES

SOME IDEAS ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR VISIT.

DIFFICULTY : LOW

LANAITHO VALLEY

Meeting in Su Gologone locality where, after a brief explanation, a visit to the famous largest karst spring on the island will be made. Then on board comfortable 4×4 off-road vehicles we will proceed in the direction of the valley of Lanaitho with a stop at the nuragic site of “Sedda Sos Carros“. A short walk will be followed by a stop at the cave of “Sa Ohe,” the second outlet of the Supramonte basin, with its wide entrance where three different lakes form inside. Next, still aboard our off-road vehicles, we reach the nearby shepherds’ sheepfold “Su Pinnettu” to enjoy a hearty lunch of local products including cold cuts, cheeses and the typical Sardinian porcetto, all accompanied by an excellent red wine – cannonau. Return to the starting point.

IMPORTANT

Suitable for people who love the mountains but are not used to very long treks. We travel by off-road vehicle and make stops for visits and explanations with short stretches on foot. Long pants and comfortable shoes are recommended. On very hot days it is good to bring a beanie or bandana, and for those who want to bring home a great memory of the day, a camera and/or binoculars are recommended.

DIFFICULTY : MEDIUM / HIGH

VILLAGE OF TISCALI

Meeting in the locality Su Gologone you will proceed with the off-road 4×4 in the direction of the valley of “Lanaitto” and arrived at the base of Mount Tiscali you will walk for about sixty minutes on an old path of charcoal burners. Arriving at the top of the mountain you will cross a natural cleft in the rock that allows in a few minutes to reach the entrance of the village, from which you can dominate the entire valley of Lanaitto, spotting from above archaeological sites and natural monuments. Afterwards, you will be able to access the interior of the sinkhole that, for hundreds of years, has housed the village of Tiscali, the only settlement in Sardinia built inside a cave, where, millions of years ago, due to an earth settlement, the vault collapsed, giving rise to a large crater that man has used as a refuge, building small stone and mud houses inside, covered with logs. When the visit to the village is over, we retrace the path backwards and climb aboard off-road vehicles to reach the nearby sheepfold of the shepherds “Su Pinnettu” to enjoy a hearty lunch of local products including cold cuts, cheeses and the typical Sardinian porcetto, all accompanied by an excellent red wine – cannonau. Return to the starting point.

IMPORTANT

Excursion of medium difficulty for people used to walking in the mountains, while it is of medium/high or high difficulty for less dynamic, untrained people without the right equipment. You walk about four hours on goat and mouflon trails. You need to have long pants, good and sturdy hiking shoes, a backpack for carrying water and a snack. On very hot days it is good to bring a beanie or bandana, and those who want to bring home a good memory of the day are advised to bring a camera and binoculars.
